Compress GIF
Shrink a GIF to exactly the size a platform demands. Pick a target, and the tool walks down a ladder of trade-offs — colors, then dimensions, then frames — until the file fits.
Compress a GIF to 256 KB for Discord emoji
Discord's emoji limit is the reason most people land here: 256 KB for custom emoji, 512 KB for stickers, 10 MB for banner GIFs on boosted servers. The presets above map to those numbers exactly. If a GIF still can't reach the target without becoming illegible, the tool says so honestly and gives you the smallest file it could make instead of silently shipping a broken one.
How this compressor shrinks a GIF
Three levers, pulled in order of least damage. First, colors: each frame is re-quantized from 256 colors down to 128 or 64 — invisible on flat art, mild banding on photos. Second, dimensions: the whole animation is scaled down in steps; halving the pixels quarters the data. Third, frames: every other frame is dropped and the survivors' delays doubled, so the timing stays the same but the motion gets choppier. The tool stops at the first rung that fits your target, and reports which levers it pulled.
Compressor vs. resizer vs. optimizer
Reach for this page when you have a size limit to hit — it keeps working until the number fits. Use the GIF Resizer when you have pixel dimensions to hit (it changes size only, and often that alone is enough). Use the Frame Extractor or GIF Cutter when the problem is length — dead frames at the head and tail are the cheapest kilobytes you'll ever cut.
